Chaperone Service
Caring and Supporting Your Needs
A chaperone is a trained staff member who accompanies patients during their consultation or treatment. This service is particularly designed to ensure your comfort and safety, especially during intimate procedures or when the practitioner is of the opposite sex.
Having a chaperone is beneficial for several reasons:
Opposite Sex Practitioner: Some individuals may feel more comfortable having a chaperone present if they are being examined or treated by a practitioner of the opposite sex. In most cases we can offer a same sex practitioner, however, if not, a chaperone can help alleviate any feelings of discomfort during the appointment.
Intimate Examination: During intimate examinations, the presence of a chaperone can provide emotional support and assurance, making the experience less stressful for the patient.
Nervousness and Extra Support: For patients who are very nervous about their appointment, having a chaperone can offer additional support. This presence can help create a more calming atmosphere, allowing patients to feel more at ease.
Language Barriers: If a patient does not speak or understand English, having a chaperone who can assist with communication can be vital. This ensures that the patient fully understands the information and is able to provide valid consent. We provide an interpreter service for this.
Disability Considerations: For those with disabilities that may affect their ability to understand information or engage in the consent process, a chaperone can help facilitate clear communication and ensure that the patient’s rights and needs are respected.
If you would like a chaperone present during your appointment, please request this at the time of booking, as we may not be able to accommodate such requests on the same day as your appointment. Please note that friends and family members are not permitted to act as chaperones in these instances, ensuring a focused and secure setting for your treatment.
